The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Twitter's WFH Forever could have unsuspected consequences. It's a game changer. Other companies will follow. There will be many positive consequences: 1️⃣ Happier employees not enduring stressful commute. 2️⃣ Execs positive about changing the environnement. 3️⃣ WFH program inspiring high retention rate. 4️⃣ Huge savings by not having to house workers. 5️⃣ Job seekers geographical boundaries will expand Perception of Time and Space will change. But. Picture this. Companies are suffering huge losses in revenue. Saving money is important. Companies will save money hiring at lower-cost locations. I'm not talking off or nearshore. I'm talking Paris vs St Etienne, London vs Nottingham. Why hire someone costing 20% more for the same skill-set ? Want to negotiate a raise? You might find it hard as replacements will be easily found. Will this pull salaries steeply down? Raise some and drop others to find an average? I don't have a clue. But, good news: It's up to us as individuals to write tomorrow! And slightly more to us recruiters. We're building this road. Let's pave it with good actions.
